Dr. Truong’s marks at Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University were so high that he was retained as a teacher upon graduation, and he has remained an instructor of young medical students and postgraduate doctors in clinical pharmacology ever since. In his professional medical career he has turned to intensive care and emergency medicine, pursuing his mission to help improve procedures for critical patients in Vietnam and thus achieve better medical outcomes.
Originally intending on a career as an information technician, he applied to medical school with a friend as a show of support and was unexpectedly accepted. After completing his six-year degree, he worked for 115 hospital in the ICU department and undertook further studies in emergency medicine, intensive care, and toxicology. By the time he was 32 years old, he was already head of the ICU department for Thu Duc Hospital.
Dr. Truong first worked with FMP to help coordinate and perform complex ECMO medical evacuations. He is a respected specialist within FMP’s ICU and has been an integral part of our medical emergency team for two years. In tandem, he is also Vice Secretary of the Emergency Association of Vietnam and a volunteer trainer for Operation Smile as a certified American Heart Association instructor. He is married with two sons, and enjoys sports and regular family excursions.
