History

Dr. Rafi Kot first came to Vietnam from Israel in 1988 to manage health care projects for minority tribespeople in the nation’s remote northern areas. After years of dedication, he became the first foreigner to be granted a license to open a medical center in Vietnam under 100% foreign ownership. He then opened his first clinic in Hanoi in 1997.

Realizing a strong demand for international-standard medical care among expat families, Dr. Rafi opened his first family clinic with a  focus on pediatric care. He later expanded from this core to offer extensive specialty services for the communities of families and schools within Vietnam, as well as serving the growing needs of local Vietnamese people seeking quality health care. As the industry developed, Dr. Rafi’s vision became the driving force behind private medicine in Vietnam.

Over the years, Dr. Rafi has built a team of qualified international medical practitioners, technicians and other personnel to staff our medical centers throughout Vietnam, now serving the wider community of locals as well as resident expats. His commitment of time and energy, along with that of his team members, has worked toward providing excellence in medical diagnosis, care, and treatment to patients.

In 2016, FMP underwent a further evolution in its core services with the launch of our ambulance response system, ∗9999. Based on the same emergency protocols used by 911 in the US, the service offers immediate medical assistance over the phone and ambulance dispatch throughout Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Rafi continues to help improve the lives of the nation’s underprivileged communities. On several occasions, he has closed the medical centers to lead his staff and medical team on charity missions to impoverished mountainous areas, supplying remote village communities with supplies and essential treatments. FMP’s most recent mission to the Kon Plong region, in partnership with the embassy of Israel, brought medical care and treatments to more than 8300 people and essential provisions to more than 3500 families in need.
