Food
While traveling in Vietnam, take care to eat in clean establishments to give yourself the best protection against parasites and bacteria that are known to be found in unclean food. Fruit and vegetables should be peeled or thoroughly cleaned and cooked. Try to avoid street food that isn’t cooked right in front of you, as it’s impossible to tell if it has been prepared hygienically. All meat and fish should be thoroughly cooked.

Remember that while local dishes are a delightful treat, contaminated food and drink can cause vomiting, diarrhea and other related bacterial infections. This doesn’t mean that you must restrict yourself to venues that primarily cater for foreign visitors, but it does mean you should exercise good judgement when selecting an eatery.
