Hepatitis B
Most Vietnamese people become infected with the Hepatitis B virus during childhood, as the virus is passed from their mother.

15–25% of adults who become chronically infected during childhood die from Hepatitis B related liver cancer or cirrhosis.

Hepatitis is extremely prevalent in Vietnam as we have many opportunities to come into contact with the virus. Eating with cutlery which has not be cleaned properly at local restaurants is a common cause, as is having manicures with unsterilised equipment and transmission via sexual intercourse.
